Unwaxed and unscented dental floss is used to hygeinically tie off a puppy's umbilical cord. Thin but strong, this dental floss is ideal for tying a tight secure knot around the umbilical cord without slipping or breaking.
How to Use
- Prepare Supplies: Unwaxed, unflavoured dental floss, sterilised scissors and antiseptic (like iodine).
- About 2 centimetres (1 inch) from the puppy’s stomach, tie the floss securely in a double or triple knot.
- Cut the cord about ½ inch past the knot using sterilized scissors.
- Apply Antiseptic to the cut end with iodine or another antiseptic to prevent infection.
- Monitor for Issues: Watch for signs of infection, such as swelling, redness, or puss and seek veterinary assistance if concerned.
